A new senior research engineer position is open

UD has recently established an Air Force Center of Excellence called the Ladar and Optical Communications Institute (LOCI). UD has an opening for a Senior Research Engineer to design and build a ladar testbed with distributed, sparse apertures. The position requires knowledge of and experience with electro-optics component technology,lasers and especially should have a background in ladar. The position has responsibility for hiring additional researchers with the required skills, creating and executing a management plan, interfacing with AFRL/RY, writing interim reports, and responding to funding opportunities.

LOCI is an interdisciplinary research program with stakeholders in government and aerospace sectors. The Sensors Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RY) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Air Force Institute of Technology are LOCI partners.

Basic requirements: The successful candidate should have a minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in an electro-optics lab environment. The person should possess a doctorate in a science or engineering discipline or have equivalent experience, and have an established record of innovative, interdisciplinary ladar research. The Researcher will lead a collaborative research group, work with LOCI stakeholders, expand the ladar program, secure external funding, and forge partnerships with industry and other organizations.
